Madrid, October 2016, Gonzalez Byass has been ranked as the first Spanish winery and fifth best winery in the world in the prestigious Best 100 Wineries for 2016, organised by the WAWWJ (World Association of writers and journalists of wines and spirits). With a total of 2.853 points and 167 awards obtained in key international competitions, Gonzalez Byass has once again been chosen as the best Spanish winery in the world by the WAWWJ. The successes achieved by Gonzalez Byass Jerez in the International Wine Challenge; Bodegas Beronia and Cavas Vilarnau in Mundus Vini; Vinas del Vero, Finca Constancia and Beronia Rueda in the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, and Finca Moncloa in the International Wine & Spirits Competition, have meant a significant improvement in the companys ranking in 2011, 2013 and 2014, when it was also ranked as the Best Spanish Winery.
This international ranking as number one Spanish wine for Noe highlights the recognition and success of this wine over the past year. Noe is a Pedro Ximenez Muy Viejo V.O.R.S. which has been aged in American oak barrels for more than 30 years, producing an intense, complex sweet wine which has inspired competition judges worldwide.
WAWWJ is an association of writers, journalists, authors, bloggers and social media influencers from across the globe. Since 1996, the association has created this world ranking which classifies wineries by
the results they have achieved in international and local drinks competitions throughout the previous year.
